An authority on responsible adventure travel in Latin America
Worldly Adventurer is the only travel blog dedicated to responsible adventure travel in Latin America.
Thanks to its focus on adventurous but meaningful experiences, it inspires travellers to venture beyond-the-beaten-trail in Latin America and to become more than just a spectator wherever they go, whether that’s through a hiking and camping adventure or by visiting a responsible tourism project in a far-flung, rural community.
Worldly Adventurer plugs the gap where information about adventurous, barely-discovered experiences should be. Steph has been there, done that and got the forehead scars to prove it, having wild camped in the middle of the Bolivia countryside, hitchhiked the Carretera Austral and trekked in Torres del Paine National Park – twice.
Meet Steph from Worldly Adventurer
Hi, I’m Steph Dyson, the adventurer behind the brand. A bilingual freelance journalist, I have a compelling storytelling and experienced photographer with a clear understanding of the challenges and opportunities for those working within the Latin American travel sector, gathered from five years living abroad in Chile, Bolivia and Peru.
My writing has been featured in the international press, and I’ve written four guidebooks to date. I was selected through a rigorous and competitive process to be the sole author the 2020 Moon Chile and also have contributed to the Rough Guide to Peru, the Rough Guide to South America on a Budget and DK Eyewitness Peru. I’ve been published broadly, including in National Geographic Traveller, The Telegraph, CNN Travel, Lonely Planet, The Independent, Time Out, Wanderlust, The South China Morning Post, Rough Guides, Adventure Travel Magazine and more (see my full clips here).
A former Assistant Head of English at a secondary school in the UK, I’m now a full-time adventurer based in and around Latin America, where I arrived in October 2014 to begin my adventures. Aside from living and travelling extensively through Bolivia, Peru, Argentina and Chile over ten-year period, I spent a sum total of 12 months volunteering in grassroots organisations in Peru and Bolivia. I now speak fluent Spanish, a language I picked up somewhere in Bolivia…
As a site committed to helping intrepid travellers discover the hardest to find parts of Latin America and sharing a new perspective on some of the most travelled, I’m keen to work with brands that offer adventurous travel experiences in Latin America.
